Our Mission

Guatemala’s transportation system can be confusing for visitors. Schedules change frequently, routes aren’t well documented online, and reliable English-language information is scarce. Our mission is to bridge that gap by providing comprehensive, regularly updated transportation guides that empower travelers to move around Guatemala confidently and safely.

Every guide we publish is built on first-hand research, direct communication with operators, and feedback from the traveler community. We don’t just aggregate information — we verify it.

What Every Guide Includes

🚌 Route Details

Step-by-step directions, stops, border crossings, and transfer points for every route.

💰 Pricing Comparison

Current prices for buses, shuttles, private transfers, and flights so you can compare and budget.

🕐 Schedule Tables

Departure times, arrival times, and durations organized in easy-to-read tables.

🔗 Booking Links

Direct links to trusted booking platforms where you can reserve your transport in advance.

🛡️ Safety Information

Honest assessments of route safety, tips for secure travel, and what to watch out for.

📍 Local Tips

Insider knowledge about terminals, border procedures, and getting around at your destination.

Editorial Standards

Research Methodology

Every route guide starts with direct research — contacting operators, checking schedules at terminals, and verifying prices through booking platforms. We cross-reference multiple sources before publishing any information, and we clearly note when data is based on traveler reports rather than direct verification.

Update Frequency

Transportation schedules in Guatemala change seasonally and sometimes without notice. We review and update our most popular guides quarterly, and all guides at least twice per year. Every article shows the last-verified date, and we encourage readers to submit corrections through our contact page.

How We Make Money

Transparency matters to us. Guatemala Transport Service earns revenue through affiliate partnerships with booking platforms like Bookaway and GuateGo. When you book transportation through our links, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

This affiliate revenue is what allows us to keep all our guides free and accessible. Importantly, our recommendations are never influenced by commission rates — we recommend the best option for each route regardless of whether we earn from it. Many of our guides recommend chicken buses and local colectivos that we earn nothing from, because they’re genuinely the best option for that route.
